Meet Steve Kudron, My Mountain Guy aka newly elected town trustee and head fudge maker at Quacker Gift Shop. Steve (MMG) has many hobbies and interests but one of his favorites is creative cooking. For all of this to make sense I should provide a brief primer as to the cooking and dining preferences of my beloved husband. So here it goes:
1.If 7 plus ingredient are required and savory is an outcome, the kitchen comes alive.
2. If smokin’ is the method of cooking…oh my, look out!

Ah, St Patrick’s Day. Green beer, shamrock luck and a pinch or two because everyone’s Irish for a day.  With my new Power Pressure Cooker XL, I wanted to make a quick, authentic St Patty’s day Corned Beef and Cabbage dinner. I searched high and low for a quick, easy pressure cooked St Patty’s Day dinner.  There was a lot of disagreement, so I took the best ideas and came up with a perfectly cooked meal.  Our Power Pressure Cooker XL did the job easy peasy. Tender Corned Beef, Tasty Beer Braised Cabbage, tender Red Potatoes and Carrots round it all out. We added a pint of Guinness for the perfect St. Patrick’s Day feast! Continue reading

What I know… It’s April 25, 2014

crazy catSomeday I’m going to look back and laugh about this move, but for now I’m dazed and confused. Looking at my blog there were days I was off by dates and alphabet, how can that happen? Well, let me tell you… these past few weeks have been a blur, all I know is there is a big job to do. I was thinking that April would be an easy month, but I thought wrong! The move from Denver to Grand Lake has taken all month and as soon as we finish this job it’s time to get the stores ready for tourist season. Continue reading

Day 18&19- Peace and Quiet

2012-04-08 14.40.31Day 18- 19-  Yes I got behind this weekend, the move to our mountain chalet has officially taken over!  I need to catch up on letters P and Q…Peace and Quiet. The irony is, we have no P&Q , but we’re working towards it. We’re looking forward to our first full-time summer in Grand Lake, hiking in Rocky Mountain National Park, living a healthier life, and enjoying our friends and family that comes visit us. And just as a bonus…Peace and Quiet. Can’t wait!

Day 16- N is for Nature

According to Webster dictionary nature is derived from the Latin word natura, or “essential qualities, and literally meant “birth”. Within the various uses of the word today, “nature” often refers to geology and wildlife.  Continue reading
